For its international debut, Musubu STUDIO chose the prestigious stage of Cannes, the heart of the world’s most celebrated arts festival.
We are proud to unveil our limited-edition Cannes Collection 2025, inspired by the red carpet glamour and timeless elegance that Cannes represents.

Why Cannes?

It wasn’t just about glamour.
It was about something deeper.

Japan is home to some of the world’s most refined traditions—sensitive aesthetics, masterful craftsmanship, and a deep respect for nature. These qualities are embodied in our kimono and obi culture, now quietly fading from modern life.

I remember seeing vintage obi—once worn with pride—left out in flea markets, soaking in the rain, sold for nearly nothing.
In that moment, I asked myself:

“What kind of world are we living in, if even this beauty is not seen?”

That question became our mission.
To bring Japanese heritage back to the global stage.
To reclaim the beauty—and the pride—we may have forgotten.

And if it could be recognized on the red carpet in Cannes,
then maybe we, as Japanese, could begin to believe again in the value of what we’ve carried all along.

A Collection Where Heritage Meets Haute Couture

The Cannes Collection 2025 features hand-selected vintage obi woven with luminous gold and silver threads—designed to shine against the iconic red carpet.

・Obi textiles: Saga Nishiki, Nishijin-ori, and other noble weaves ・Designs: Modern silhouettes reimagined from formal kimono sashes
・Materials: 100% Japanese silk—lining and handles included
・Craftsmanship: Every piece is handmade in Japan, with precision and care

At the heart of the collection is the Double Ribbon Clutch,
a wearable piece of art that pairs golden brilliance with bold ribbon structure.
A symbol of grace, strength, and cultural memory—fit for any red carpet.

Walking the Red Carpet in Cannes

To commemorate this launch, Musubu STUDIO Founder Yuka Kawano will travel to Cannes and attend the official Cannes GALA ceremony on May 18, 2025 (local time), where she will walk the red carpet wearing the Double Ribbon Clutch.

This marks Musubu STUDIO’s first official step into the world stage.
